Woeser Cafe has a steady flow of fan following in the Bakery and Cafe business in the little Lhasa town. All credits go to Sangmo Tendill.

Run by a gritty young businesswoman Sangmo Tendill is awesome beyond measures. A very sweet person who also happens to be a fun conversationalist. She runs a small and quirky bakery which is rated as the no.1 bakery in Mcleodganj on Tripadvisor.

Sangmo loves to experiment with ingredients and recipes. She brings recipes using healthy, accessible ingredients that reflect the taste and the moods of the place and people. She offers a variety of desserts, with a minimum of eight options at any time and a maximum of nineteen kinds rotating through the season. She uses no artificial ingredients, no baking soda, and no baking powder. Sweeteners like brown sugar, jaggery, and honey are used instead of white sugar. She has recently added two vegan cakes to the menu. The vegan cakes are surprisingly good and spongy.

The cakes are made with love and they are sure to put a smile on your face. The Carrot cake is the most crumbly and divine cake you will find in the entire Himalayan hamlet. Add this along with a cup of fresh handmade Cappuccino and you are set for the entire day.

We also recommend Caramel Walnut Tart and Lemon Cake. Sangmo La tells us that many of her customers request advance orders in bulk. Some take their chances trying every cake available in the menu. There is always a struggle meeting the expectations of the customers.

Woeser Cafe is tucked away in the Lane in the basement of a shop so you need to ask for directions.  The bakery is just a small room in the basement of The Black Magic Cafe on Jogiwara Road.

The seating is very limited and it is best you arrive early in the day. Woeser Cafe opens from Tuesday till Sunday, 10:30 am to 7:00 pm.
